Sebastian Originals 2 + 1 Reconstructor Treatment

You all know that I’ve been trying to keep up with the questions coming in and each time I get one, I promise myself that I’m going to get it posted, so that everyone can benefit. Well, this was one instance that could not wait.

Hey..I gave in last week and went to the dominicans..but made a new observation I’d like to share. Right before she rolled me up…I was looking at what she puts in my hair because I need to buy some leave in… they usually use the Salerm products, but this time I noticed she used a Sebastian 2+1 conditioner to set my hair with. I tried to ask her about it but her English wasn’t that great…. Have you used or heard of this? When my hair was dry, it was sooooo silky and smooth. Of course I came home and looked it up and found it…. its called 2+1 conditioner because its 2 parts water and 1 part conditioner…. here is a link

Thanks for sharing!
Ok, first off…I love Sebastian products, but they revamped their entire line and I have not seen 2+1 for a long, long time.
Currently, Sebastian’s consists of: Flow, Form, Foundation and Flaunt. Each of these subcategories has its own set of products, none of which includes 2+1.

Ok, not a problem, right? Someone may have some left over Sebastian lingering in their stock, right? Maybe, but then why name it Sebastian Original

At any rate, I know of 2+1 very well, because my stylist used to use it every 2 or 3 months or so. She would apply it AFTER shampooing and then flat iron it in sections, THEN rinse, and apply a leave-in conditioner as usual, prior to rolling my hair.

Now, I could be wrong…very, very wrong, but I do not believe that this a genuine Sebastian product, which means nothing, because if the product works like it did when my stylist used it on me, and it sounds like it does, then it’s worth it. It always left my hair feeling unbelievably silky.

Here’s the problem I have. Your stylist applied to your hair as a leave in conditioner. If the pic you included is the same, then that’s a reconstructor. Reconstructors are protein, deep conditioners and I know of none that are designed to be used at leave-ins, not even Sebastian products.

I did a search to see if I could find the directions, or even the ingrediants and so far have come up empty.

Like I said, it was a good product when my stylist used it and I would use it again, even if it’s a knock-off, but I would not ever use it as a leave in.

If you find out the real scoop be sure to let us know.

Thanks for posting… I found the instructions for use.. .but I wonder why she used it for my hair to set with rolos.. that really made me want to buy some just for that because my hair was soft. Will you remind me again what you use for setting your hair?…. After researching today, I did find out the same thing that you knew about that it is an older product and they have revamped their whole line…with that said, the are sellers that sell it on Ebay…I found one that had a smaller tube for $8.00…Here are the instructions:
    SEBASTIAN ORIGINALS DEEP CONDITIONING TREATMENT

2+1 A RECIPE FOR HEALTHY HAIR

Hair, like the body, needs moisture and protein to stay healthy and conditioned. Sebastian invented 2+1, on original recipe of 2 parts moisture and 1 part protein, to give the hair what it needs-deep intensive hydration, combined with the power of a protein pack. Normal or damaged hair feels conditioned, silky, moisturized and healthy.

Directions: Shampoo hair. Rinse. Apply generously to hair. Wrap hair in plastic bag and place under heat for 10-20 minutes, let cool, then rinse. Or wrap small sections of hair in aluminum foil and tap each one 3-5 times with a hot flat iron. Let cool, remove foil and rinse.

Ugh! I was well into a reply and lost it!

Anyway, I’m glad you found the directions. You need to wash your hair as soon as you can and apply a deep, moisturizing conditioner. You can even work the coconut, or avocado in, if you don’t have anything on hand.

Your stylist really makes me nervous; granted she may only speak Spanish, but it’s not difficult to make out the word, “reconstructor.” You may want to reconsider going to her, unless she filled the pump jar with a different product when it was empty. So, do some investigating to see whether or not you can determine whether or not she applied a different product. BTW, was the product orange? If so, that was definitely the reconstructor.

As for a leave-in, I swear by CHI Silk Infusions. I have so much of it in storage, one would think that I owned stock in the company. I also use clear serums, such as I.C Fantasia. I avoid the cremes (*check the sidebar on my video), but any clear serum should give you a good gloss. Start with a small amount, starting at the ends and working your way up. You can always add more, but will not be able to remove too much without having to rinse again.

Ok, sorry for the repeat questions..but I’m trying to get all my products lined up…I really want to try the Chi silk..but to avoid the mistake that happened above….I want to clarify..I am looking to see where I can buy it and I see that they have a Chi Silk Infusions Reconstructor?…Not the same right??.. Or is there a Chi Silk Infusion leave in??.. And is this one of those products that is mainly bought online or can I buy in a store…I rmember you mentioning BJ’s or Sams one time…do they always carry this?.. Again sorry…but thank you so much for your help!

Wait, she’d flat iron your hair before rinsing and then rollerset??? Why?

    *unrelated question*
does coconut oil have protein? I’ve heard that it does, but my jar (of pure, extra virgin) says that it doesn’t.
    gracias

Don’t apologize! That’s what this is all about. We all help each other. I have learned from friends, people in salons and stylists. It’s selfish to not share :)

Entonces, CHI Silk Infusions is a silk reconstructor, but the directions read, “Apply a small amount into palm of hand and work evenly throughout the hair. Leave in and proceed with styling.

I have also been adding silk proteins to my creme conditioners and I end up with the feeling that you got from the 2+1 Reconstructor. My hair is smooth, glossy and flows like butter.

I usually buy it online, because it’s typically rather expensive, but keep in mind that a little goes a long, long way, even with my thick hair. However, I did see it at Sam’s that one time and have not gone again, so I’m not sure whether or not they carry it on a regular. I usually order mine from Amazon, get a 12oz bottle for about $20 and try to find shipping specials, so I’m not raked over the coals.

BTW, I didn’t like the CHI shampoo for my hair. It was dry and very difficult to untangle.

Because that’s what the directions suggested. She would put foil on small sections and flat iron the hair in the foil. Then when she was feeling lazy, or had a lot of clients, she would wrap my entire head in foil and sit me under the dryer. The flat-ironing part wasn’t to straighten my hair; it was how the conditioning system worked. Yeah, sounds crazy, but my hair felt GOOD!
