Is It Ok to Get A Blowout Every Week?

I have fairly thick relaxed hair and just started going to
Dominican salon. Is it ok to get a blowout every week, my stylist said
that it was. What do you think?

This is a tricky question, because it depends on a few things:

1. The health of your hair currently.

2. How well your current stylist takes care of your hair.

Personally, I try to limit the amount of blow-time my hair gets. I often do roller sets every week, but blow my hair out only every, other week to prevent heat damage.

With that said, use your discretion. Keep in mind, that a stylist makes her money based on the number of clients he/she has and since most dominican salons are dirt-cheap, they are counting on customers coming in frequently.  If you have your stylist blow out your roots, then a weekly blow out may not be too much heat, but be sure to deep condition weekly and more sure that you use a heat protectant.  Do not let your stylist skip the conditioner, ever.

Hope this helps :)

thank you so much for all your hair knowledge.. i have very curly wavy hair and i recently had a texturizer to loosen the curl pattern and not have to blow dry and flat iron as much. unfortunately my hair is very thin and straighter than its ever been. i have decided not to texturize or dye my hair anymore, and i have a dominican stylist that i visit weekly, but i still have a LOT of split ends; even with her trimming my hair regularly, :/ its very depressing, but this website is extremely helpful with all of its hair care tips. i had to take the time out to thank you . i will be back soon. thank you very much!!

You are definitely going to be frustrated your first, second, fourth time doing your own blow out, but then one day it just “clicks.” You just get it.
Ok…I am not exactly clear on what you mean by “wrap lotion.”

I don’t use silicon mix, personally, but most people have really good results.

What I do is, wash, deep condtion and then I use a leave in conditioner or serum.
I put my rolos in and then when I’m dry, pull ‘em out and pass the blower over my roots.
When I’m done, I add a little more serum for shine and then put my hair in a dubi (or wrap).

the thing you have over the rollers when you dry, it’s a net cover or something, do you know where I could buy one online,
    thank you.
