Hola Nina,

I am so sorry for your hair loss :( I am not even sure how to instruct you, because I'm not certain what caused the damage. If I had to guess, I'd say that your hair is overprocessed. No matter how frizzy, nappy my hair used to get, I never, ever relaxed any sooner than 8 weeks. Also, if you switched products, or didn't properly condition in between relaxers, that may have lead to weakness too.

How long has your hair been breaking, suddenly, or over a bit of time?

Maria:
Yes I'm using a rat tail comb. But its like I don't which direction to rollerset without my rollers being loose. Each time I put in the rollers, it feels like they're super LOOSE and my roots just end up being jacked while my ends are straight. I don't know if securing them with two pins instead of one will help. On top of that I have a table top dryer which takes almost 3 hours to dry my hair and sometimes my hair isn't dry. I'm going to order a Pibbs (finally) and hopefully just keep trying.

To the writer - are you using a rattail comb to smooth section and smooth out the hair right before you rollerset? If you don't, I highly recommend you purchase one so your rollersets can come out straight.

Oh mamita, stress can destroy a body. It can cause your hair to fall out, weight loss/gain, loss of sleep. You get the idea.

I hope your friend is back on track. Encourage her to try to maintain a healthy diet and drink lots of water, which I KNOW isn't easy when one is stressed, but tell her to try.

Yes ma'm, I will continue to write lol!!! But I think her hair was unhealthy due to stress and kept falling. She tried this product in hopes of getting her hair back to a healthy state. She said it made her strands weak and thin. And she got fine african american hair.

Hola Regina,

Let's get one thing straight. I do my best to answer EVERYONE at a reasonable time. So, you BETTER keep writing me :)

Now, for your friend with the falling hair issue. African Americans, are much like Dominicanos, come in a variety of complexions with varied hair types. My hair is is not straight, by any stretch of the imagination; many of us get relaxers and obviously use hot tools to straighten out hair, right? ;)

My hair LOVES Baba de Caracol. This is not to say that your friend did not have a bad experience with it, but I also wrote that I was concerned that it may not be suitable for frequent use, as protein treatments tend to cause the hair to brittle, leading to breakage when overuse comes into play. Baba de Caracol does not give specific directions on how frequently it can be used, so I air on the side of caution and use it no more than once or twice a month. I suspect that there is another hair issue going on: too much heat, not enough moisture, over/under processed hair. I don't know for sure...just guessing, because there is not a person, so far, that I've talked to, who has anything but raves for Baba de Caracol.

There you have it. My 2 pence :)

My experience with the products is that it is not a harsh protein, such as keratin. Was your friend's hair relaxed? There could be a host of reasons why her hair fell out and it could actually be due to Baba, but for some reason, that would completely shock me.

La Negra:
Thanks for responding back. Keep up the good work, it amazes me how you always take the time (out of your busy schedule) to coach people and give us advice. But I do have one last question and I'll be done with you forever (no not forever, I'm going to write again lol), but ok I read somewhere that you used the Baba de Caracol intensive treatment and you seemed like you have enjoyed it. But this chick said that it made her hair fall out. I want to try it but I'm african american with relaxed thick hair and I don't know if its made for my hair type. Do you think you can give an opinion?

Thanks once again and God bless!
