How to Block the Air in a Blower

Hola La Negra porfavor explain in detail how I can get a blow dryer that is hot enough to do the Dominican blow out…I’m  a Negrita Panamania with natural thick wavy hair and I can’t find a blow dryer that gets hot enough nor uses a strong pressure of air to do aDominican blow out…In one of your articles you said the hair dresser  usually use some sort of paper to block the air in the dryer, porfavorwhat brand of dryer do they use and how to block the air to make the dryer get very hot?

Gracias e bendigo

Hola hermanita!

To be honest, I don’t think there is necessarily a trick to getting a hot blower. You just have to buy one that’s hot, like a torch LOL.

The one I have is a Turbo 1500, made by Pibbs. I think next week, I’m going to test a new one, just in case mine ever dies. I don’t recall seeing any of the stylists in my salons ever use any of the blowers that they carry at Sally’s, maybe because the ones at Sally’s don’t get as hot, or the airflow is less. I’m not sure, but I can tell you that if you walked into a beauty supply in NYC, you’d be able to find the same type of blowers that they use in the Dominican salons.

The paper…I used to see all of the blowers with paper covering most of the filter. They used a piece of a paper towel, something a little thicker to place under the filter. The entire filter wasn’t covered, I’d say about half, or 2/3, but it seemed to make the blower push out more air. I personally, have always been afraid to do it to my blower, but I may have to try it and report back to you :)

If you are looking for the blower that I have, you can do a search online for it. The prices vary; I think the lowest price these days is about $59.

Hope this helps!
