Well I tried the rollers. There are no teeth on the surface of the rollers, there are tiny grooves around the circumference of the roller, these grooves help with the rolling process. Rolling was very easy and the pins are a little trickier to get through the roller than with regular wire mesh rollers. I achieved a tight rollerset. My hair dried in an hour with a bonnet dryer set on high for 20 minutes and medium for the remaining time. I didn't use any end papers and my ends were smooth. My hair overall wasn't as smooth as magnetic rollers because of the texture of the roller, but my roots were very straight with 14 weeks ng on 4a hair and my hair was softer and had more body than with regular wire mesh rollers, I bet if I had a Pibbs hooded dryer the outcome would be even better. I suppose you could do a silk wrap to get your hair really silky afterwards.

I really like these and will continue to use them. The only word of caution would be with the pins. Your hair should be very wet when putting the pins in your hair or you could break your hair when pushing the pins through the roller.

I also found that oil rinsing your hair helps tremendously with tangles and softening ng when stretching. I tried this for the first time today. You shampoo, rinse out shampoo, apply an oil to your hair just the hair not the scalp (I used Easy Look coconut/watercress oil). you rinse hair immediately with very warm water, then proceed to deep condition as usual. Rinse out deep conditioner with cool water, apply rinse, rinse out if you do that step as well then do your rollerset. My hair felt and looks like I am 7 weeks post relaxer instead of 14. It did take some of my temporary color rinse out but who cares. I was able to rollerset without giving myself a headache in the process. Well I did kinda give myself a headache when I put those pins in but my ng is pretty smooth without needing to blow dry. My hair doesn't like direct heat.

Let me know what you think of the rollers. I have never used mesh before, but have heard a few people mention them.

I found hard mesh rollers online and ordered some. I usually use wire mesh but heard these are better. They haven't come yet.

Morning Melonie,

I wish I could see the rollers that you have. The ones that amazon sell, although they allow for quicker drying, look like they would snag the hair.
Even if they did not have teeth, they look like they are constructed from the type of plastic that can pull or catch hair and end up pulling it out. The magnetics are made from hard, unsnaggable plastic.

Personally, I'd rather spend more time drying, then worrying about my hair being pulled out.

**UPDATE**
The rollers I was talking about are discontinued, but I just found these. http://www.amazon.com/Conair-Fast-Dry-Rollers-20-Pack/dp/B00152W190. I'm tempted to buy them. The rollers I already own are just like magnetic rollers with many more holes. I'd imagine that these Conair rollers would dry the hair even faster (and they're actually available on amazon!!!).
BUT, before I have a heart attack over these new rollers, I have a question...LaNegra, when you enlarge the photo, you can see small, criss-crossing teeth on the rollers (especially on the green and blue rollers). I guess the teeth provide an even sleeker set, but do you think that they would be damaging to the hair in the long run (you know, since it's wet)?
oh, and *big hug* right back atcha!
