Yes, yes, YES!!! They are worse. They usually cause a lot of calcium buildup on the hair, but some people swear by them and who am I to try to tell people what to use on their hair, right?

I keep saying that I'm going natural, but still haven't decided yet. I sweat a lot and work out a lot. But when I do relax, it's lye.

I recently found out that the no lye relaxers are actually harsher and worse for your hair. Although I'm no longer relaxing, I used to use the kiddie relaxers when I did. They used to get the kinks out without being terribly damaging. But now I'm all about being natural and only blowing out as needed!

From my own point of view I wouldn’t suggest that. You have rightly said that it’s an aggressive carcinogen (but lets forget about that since they say the same about relaxers also.)The thing that really worried me when I first did a research on this because of it’s rave reviews (although I never planned of doing it) Was this <> (this indicates that it’s more dangerous than a relaxer), if you read the adds about it they say that it conditions the hair and makes it really straight for some amount of time, it makes hair silky, shiny, frizz-less, sleek e.t.c. it sounds really good and interesting but……. ( this really doesn’t matter since you can get results from other ‘’healthier’’ for us products.
Also after doing the BKT you can’t use any hair-spray, gel, mousse or any other hair products on your hair for four days after the treatment has been applied to be a little more specific: you must use a shampoo without Sodium-Chloride (Sulfate-Free) on your hair at all times, and apply heat the if you hair gets wet within the 4 days.
Also this video also has some info on it’s danger,
http://video.aol.com/video-detail/chemical-brazilian-hair-straightener-may-be-deadly/2362164375
To summarized this yes relaxers may be dangerous but as much as the stylist who perform the BKT need to wear a MASK I guess if even more dangerous even if the have switch formaldehyde with it’s cousin (lol).Hope this helps someone :)
