I’m from NYC, but I don’t live there anymore either, so I hope the places that I recommend are still as good as I remember them.
There’s one that I used to go to a lot, but I cannot remember the street. I believe it’s on 5th Avenue and 132nd street, but I’m going to have to check the address. I am so used to just walking, or hoping on the subway, can’t recall the streets now.

Then there’s one on 2nd Avenue between 117th Street and 118th Street. I think the name is D’Colores. Mari has done my hair a number of times. However, she goes by different names. If you go to this one, she’s really, really short and has long hair.

I may be going to the city in a few weeks, so I may be able to get the “rundown” on the current salons and make sure the stylists I know are still working at the same salons (they do a lot of salon-hopping in NYC).

LOL Ok, I’m going to continue putting on the oil and after a while, I’ll see what happens.

Btw, I dnt live in NY, but I would like to go to a salon out there, do u have a favorite place?

No problem rambling…I do a lot of that. Haven’t you read any of my posts LOL.

I guess the straightness of your depends on how much oil you have on your hair when you get a touch up and how long the stylist leaves it on. My friend always, always, always used a timer when she did her touch ups (that was back when I was too chicken to do my own) and sometimes her hair would come out very straight, other times she had some curl left.

Now that I’m more experienced with doing my own, I can say that the more base you put on your scalp and roots, the more time you buy yourself, as far as straightening. It’s a pain moving, because finding a new stylist leaves you and your hair at the mercy of a total stranger

When I first got a relaxer, I asked that it not be super straight and she just made my curls looser, but I’ve moved to a different salon, and after almost a year of being there, my hair even when wet is very straight, but then I learned of this technique, that before getting a relaxer, I put castor oil on my new growth and my hair and scalp, then when she relaxes my hair, it wont be as curly, because the relaxer cannot penetrate thoroughly, but I only did it once, and now Im thinking… “will my hair be too curly?” or “will it be the same as when I first got a relaxer?” I just started doing that, so I cant really see the difference (kinda, only in the roots) but my hair is definately thicker than when they normally just relax it… sorry im rambling… jiji
