Hask Straight Solution

Hello Ladies,
Sorry for the delay. I have been busy, busy, busy. Wanted to let you know about a new product I recently tried, Hask Straight Solution. First off, I love Hask products and when I was looking for something to assist my thick curly hair getting even straighter with a rollerset, I figured I would give it a try.

So, I washed and deep conditioned as usual, then towel dried. I applied the Hask, liberally, because my hair is extra thick and gets extra bushy! I combed it through with a rattail comb and immediately I could tell this product was going to be fabulous. I could feel my wet hair actually straightening as I combed it. The rollers went on easier, and my usual stray hairs actually stayed in place.

After setting my hair and sitting under the dryer for what seemed like forever, I took the rollers out and couldn’t believe the results. My hair was extra straight at the roots, which is great because I don’t perm, shiny and much more manageable than usual.

What I really liked was that even after a few days of wrapping my hair AND working out, the roots stayed fairly straight. Now I say fairly, because like I mentioned, I don’t perm. With all my activities, I don’t expect my blowouts to last very long. However, I know for sure the Hask extended my blowout. And even though my roots were a little bushy, the rest of my hair stayed straight. Hask has yet another satisfied customer.

This product straightens the hair as well as protects from heating appliances. I believe it may be geared more to those who flat iron, but in my opinion it works just as well with rollersets.

Okay so I purchased my bottle of this product yesterday so it should be here in a few weeks. Yes, I say weeks because I live on an aircraft carrier (yippeee … not really). So I am really excited to get my order. Until then, I have the Loreal straight hot cream or whatever it is called.

I took your advice about not using any foaming lotion. Simply stick to my leave-in conditioners and that cream. My curls came out great and they were so soft.

I am really trying to stick to a strict routine with my hair. Nothing but roller sets. No flat irons no hair dryers and no more than 2 or 3 perms a year once I master straightening my roots with a brush after my roller sets.

I am primarily black but there is indian in our family as well. My hair grows pretty well and a speedy rate,I am just impatient because i have a bad habit of chopping my hair and regretting it later. So I ask, what products would YOU suggest for accelerating hair growth? I ordered my Halka Baba de Caracol combo set and some Aceite Bomb hair oil. I also ordered some other stuff from a separate hair company.

Can’t wait to hear from you …

When I first got a relaxer, I asked that it not be super straight and she just made my curls looser, but I’ve moved to a different salon, and after almost a year of being there, my hair even when wet is very straight, but then I learned of this technique, that before getting a relaxer, I put castor oil on my new growth and my hair and scalp, then when she relaxes my hair, it wont be as curly, because the relaxer cannot penetrate thoroughly, but I only did it once, and now Im thinking… “will my hair be too curly?” or “will it be the same as when I first got a relaxer?” I just started doing that, so I cant really see the difference (kinda, only in the roots) but my hair is definately thicker than when they normally just relax it… sorry im rambling… jiji

No problem rambling…I do a lot of that. Haven’t you read any of my posts LOL.

I guess the straightness of your depends on how much oil you have on your hair when you get a touch up and how long the stylist leaves it on. My friend always, always, always used a timer when she did her touch ups (that was back when I was too chicken to do my own) and sometimes her hair would come out very straight, other times she had some curl left.

Now that I’m more experienced with doing my own, I can say that the more base you put on your scalp and roots, the more time you buy yourself, as far as straightening. It’s a pain moving, because finding a new stylist leaves you and your hair at the mercy of a total stranger :(

LOL Ok, I’m going to continue putting on the oil and after a while, I’ll see what happens.

Btw, I dnt live in NY, but I would like to go to a salon out there, do u have a favorite place?

I’m from NYC, but I don’t live there anymore either, so I hope the places that I recommend are still as good as I remember them.
There’s one that I used to go to a lot, but I cannot remember the street. I believe it’s on 5th Avenue and 132nd street, but I’m going to have to check the address. I am so used to just walking, or hoping on the subway, can’t recall the streets now.

Then there’s one on 2nd Avenue between 117th Street and 118th Street. I think the name is D’Colores. Mari has done my hair a number of times. However, she goes by different names. If you go to this one, she’s really, really short and has long hair.

I may be going to the city in a few weeks, so I may be able to get the “rundown” on the current salons and make sure the stylists I know are still working at the same salons (they do a lot of salon-hopping in NYC).
