Alter Ego Impac
My trips to NY always include restocking my hair cabinet.
Although, I try to stick with what works for me and what’s familiar, I sometimes like to try something new, especially if there’s a little buzz about it. Before you ask, “Negra, why do you use the same things over and over?” It’s because I have enough in my lineup that I can switch and change with the needs of my hair, but I also don’t like to experiment too much these days.
I’m a creature of habit. If something works for me now, then I try to keep that product on hand. If it doesn’t work and I know someone else uses it, then I gift it to them.
So, back to my last re-up in NY. I picked up something that I’d been curious about, but had not heard too much, as far as results. Alter Ego Impac Ego Treatment with Garlic.
I went into the BBS for one thing, but left with Alter Ego. I wanted an UNA product, another Italian made product, but they didn’t have the large bottle, so I opted for this.
One of the reasons why I decided to try this, is because it contains wheat and animal extracts. If I’m doing a touchup I like to finish with a deep, intensive conditioner, so I thought this would be great. I tend to swear by CHI Silk Infusion, because it contains hydrolyzed silk, so I figured some wheat would do my hair good.
After nuetralizing the hair, it was amply applied, left on for about 20 minutes and then rinsed out.
I was a little disappointed that my hair felt hard, stiff and just like it used to when I used to use other harder protein treatments. Even after following up with Humectress, my hair didn’t have the typical sway and swagger. I’ll give it another try, maybe apply a moisturizing conditioner for a longer period of time and then update this post.
I hate to rule out a product after only trying it once, but we’ll see, right?
