Hola Courtney'smommy!

I'm glad that pics helped. A pic is worth a thousand words, no?

If I were you, I'd put her hair up in a dubi every night, regardless to whether or not you do pony tails the next day. The dubi will keep her hair from becoming tangled and will keep her hair from frizzing up. Also, since she's so young, I would limit the amount of heat used on it. Trust me, she's gonna become well acquainted with a blower when she's old enough :)

Thanks for the picture tutorial! My daughter's hair is long and naturally curly, but looks very much like yours after being blow dried at the salon. I would like suggestions on how to maintain the straight hair for a week (she is 6 years old) because she likes it as loose as possible. I'm thinking of two low ponytails, but how should I secure it at night to make sure her ponytails look good in the morning?

Yes, it is what I do before I go to sleep. I guess that there is a different type of dubi, huh?
That's they way a Dominican dubi is done :)

I always use the same products, regardless to whether my hair is relaxed or natural: CHI Silk Infusion mixed with Paul Mitchell Skinny or a different anti-frizz serum.

this looks like how you wrap your hair at night before you go to sleep...I thought the "doobie" was when you go under the dryer with saran wrap?

BTW what product do you use on new growth (if your hair is already relaxed) to help it straighten during the "blow out" ?

Hola guapa! The direction of your dubie shouldn't matter. Do you tie your hair down at night? If not, that may cause the ends to flip up, but it really doesn't matter whether you brush to the left, or right...you should still get your hair to flip under.

Hola! I love your site. I have naturally curly hair (so de Puerto Rico y Cuba) and I struggle with how to manage my curls so I am going straight for awhile. My mother does the rolos for me but I got a blow out done at a salon in Boston, MA on Thursday. I really do love it. But I am struggling with the doobie. So far I can not get the hang of it. My mother has been doing it. I noticed she was brushing right instead of left like you and my ends came out flipped out. I think that's because we did the doobie in the wrong direction. I am going to try doing it myself soon, but I struggle with it. :(

Hola Essence,

If your hair is completely dry and you just want to knock out a little of the curl, try starting at 10 minutes. If your hair is as long as mine and thick, I recommend bumping the heat up a little.

Hey girl! New to your site, liking it! One question though, how long do you reccommend staying under the dryer after you wrap it (the "doobie" part)? For it to get to a good straight length but to not stay under it for too long?
